We have begun casting for Dylan Scott Hryciuk’s debut feature film, “Our Last Day As Kids.”
LOGLINE: A coming-of-age comedy/drama set in the mid2000s alternative music scene, that follows insecure punk teen, CASEY, who spends most of his time as a fly-on-the-wall, documenting his older brothers, JAMIE & MASON’s metalcore band, “Kill The Messenger.” After a successful underground show, he is confronted by reckless teens, ALEX, RODNEY & EL, who challenge Casey’s boundaries, worldview, and sense of self. Now, trapped between two worlds, Casey must find himself as he goes on a journey through friendship, love, heartbreak & brotherhood.
*All roles are OPEN ETHNICITY and accepting ANY GENDER IDENTITY

[CASEY] Male, 16, LEAD (1): A well-mannered but insecure teenager. He wears his heart on his sleeve and defines himself based on the people he surrounds himself with, like his brother Jamie. He spends the majority of his time documenting life with his camcorder, rather than living it. What Casey wants more than anything, is the acceptance of his older brothers, his friends, and to feel comfortable in his own skin.
[ALEX] Female, 16, LEAD (4): A sarcastic girl with an unfit alcoholic father. She has a habit of bullshitting her way through life, and a reputation for trouble, which is a product of her displaced emotions. Deep down, her greatest desire is to be loved and to be able to trust that she won’t be abandoned. (Strongly recommend 2SLGBTQ+ actors)
[EL] Female, 16, SUPPORTING LEAD (9): Alex’s lovable oddball, best friend. She is the black sheep of her wealthy family, who masks her depression with ecstasy, raves, and concerts. She loves “a little bit of everything,” and covers herself head to toe in neon and an array of positivity. (Strongly recommend 2SLGBTQ+ actors)
[RODNEY] Male, 16-17, SUPPORTING LEAD (2): Alex’s “tells it like it is” childhood friend. He’s a gatekeeping crust-punk and a jaded asshole. He’s overly protective over his friends and isn’t keen to opening his circle to outsiders. He deals with the trauma of his father’s suicide and is often jealous of those who are better off. (Ability to scream in the style of Hardcore an asset)
[JAMIE] Male, 22, LARGE PRINCIPLE (5): Casey’s older brother, and lead vocalist of the band Kill the Messenger. He is the middle child with a hot temper, and the driving force behind KTM. Jamie wants to become the next big thing in metalcore, and leave his hometown forever. (Ability to sing & scream in the style of Metalcore an asset)
[MASON] Male, 24, LARGE PRINCIPLE (5): Casey’s oldest brother, and drummer of the band Kill the Messenger. He’s a flippant burnout who doesn’t take things too seriously. He’s starting to feel too old for “the scene” and is ready to move on with his life as an adult. (Ability to play drums in the style of Metalcore an asset)
